Stat Counter
I recently began using a web-analytic tool called StatCounter. It is really a great service, and the price ain’t bad either - FREE.
So what exactly is StatCounter? Their website description says it best:
A free yet reliable invisible web tracker, highly configurable hit counter and real-time detailed web stats. Insert a simple piece of our code on your web page or blog and you will be able to analyse and monitor all the visitors to your website in real-time!
Stat Counter is designed to help the webmaster analyze traffic flow, with the following statistic set:
- Summary - Graph of Pageloads, Unique Visitors, and Returning Visitors
- Popular Pages - See what people like on your site (focus on this type of content)
- Entry Pages - Tells you what door them came in from
- Exit Pages - This is where they took a hike
- Came From - How they found you - info I used for this Make Money Online post
- Keyword Analysis - Allows you to see what keywords are working for you
- Recent Keyword Activity - Actual times and source of keyword searches
- Recent Came From - What site they left to get to your site
- Search Engine Wars - What search engine displays your site more often in results
- Exit Links - What links are visitors leaving through
- Exit Link Activity - Date and time exit link was clicked
- Downloads - Number of times files were downloaded
- Download Activity - Date and time of downloads
- Visitor Paths - What ISP they come from and their IP address
- Visit Length - How long they stay on your site - gotta up those numbers!
- Returning Visits - What percentage are return visitors and first-timers
- Recent Pageload Activity - Details (just check it out)
- Recent Visitor Activity - Ditto above
- Recent Visitor Map - A map of the countries where visitors are from
- Country/State/City/ISP - Graphical representation of what countries your visitors are from
- Browser - Shows percentage of browsers being used by your visitors (why so much IE???)
- System Stats - Gives stats about your websites “viewability” at different resolutions
- Lookup IP Address - Gives you a visitory analysis and system analysis of visitor
- Download Logs - Here is where you can download your StatCounter logs
It is really quite a robust system for being free. There is an option to upgrade as your free account has a log size limit of 500 entries. There are several tiers of pricing for upgrades depending on how many entries you need to track.
Try this service - Highly Recommended.
